1. Introduction

Chess Mentor is a browser extension developed exclusively for educational purposes and personal chess learning. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle user information.

Chess Mentor does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We do not gather:

• Personal identification information (name, email, etc.)
• Browsing history or activity
• Chess game data or move history
• Analytics or usage statistics
• Cookies or tracking identifiers

3. Local Storage

The extension uses the browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) solely to save your preferences, such as:

• Analysis settings (depth, number of lines, arrow colors)
• UI preferences (language selection, toggle states)
• Terms of use acceptance status

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to the developer or any third party.

4. External Communications

Chess Mentor does not communicate with any external server. All chess analysis is performed locally within your browser using the Stockfish engine running in a Web Worker. No data is sent to or received from the internet.

5. Third-Party Services

The extension does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party service, API, or analytics platform.

6. Permissions

The extension requests only the minimum permissions required to function:

• storage — to save your local preferences
• offscreen — to run the Stockfish engine in a background worker
• Host permission (chess.com) — to read the board position and display analysis overlays

7. Children's Privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Since no data is collected, changes are expected to be minimal.
